God’s Perfect Timing
God is a master planner and communicator. He knew that before He could reveal the Kingdom of heaven to humanity, an environment had to be prepared where people could fully grasp its significance. That is why He waited until the “fullness of time” before sending Jesus Christ.
From the fall of man in Genesis 3:14-15, God had already promised a solution through the offspring of Eve—Jesus, who would crush the serpent’s head. However, it took thousands of years of divine preparation before the Kingdom could be revealed.
God’s Process of Preparing for the Kingdom
- The Fall of Man
- Adam and Eve’s sin disconnected humanity from God’s Kingdom.
- As generations passed, people drifted away from God’s purpose.
- The Covenant with Abraham
- After Noah’s time, God made a covenant with Abraham, promising to make him a great nation.
- His descendants, through Isaac and Jacob (Israel), became the foundation of God’s chosen people.
- The Nation of Israel and the First Kingdom Model
- God delivered Israel from Egypt through Moses and wanted them to be a divine Kingdom under His rule.
- However, the Israelites demanded an earthly king, leading to Saul, then David, and later Solomon.
- The Rise and Fall of Earthly Kingdoms
- After Solomon, the kingdom split into Israel and Judah, eventually falling to foreign powers.
- The Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans each played a role in shaping history until the perfect environment was set.
- The Roman Empire as a Kingdom Model
- Unlike previous empires, Rome ruled by appointing governors instead of removing local populations.
- This structure provided a clear reference for Jesus’ teachings on the Kingdom, making it easier for people to understand concepts like kingship, authority, and governance.
The Fullness of Time: Jesus Enters the Scene
Galatians 4:4 says, “When the fullness of time had come, God sent His Son.”
- Jesus came at a time when a global empire (Rome) existed that mirrored the structure of God’s Kingdom.
- Caesar ruled as a king, not a president, helping people relate to God’s sovereign rule.
- The Roman system provided a physical illustration of Kingdom principles like authority, lordship, and representation.
This was not an accident—it was divine strategy. God ensured that Jesus entered history at the perfect moment when the world was ready to understand His message.
