Today, we explore a Kingdom principle that shapes the very foundation of success, growth, and purpose: authority through submission. It may not be popular, but it’s essential. From creation itself to the life of Christ, this truth resounds—everything must submit to something greater in order to function.
The Principle That Governs All Things
The principle of authority is woven into the fabric of the universe. Nothing exists in isolation. Nothing was made to function independently. From the smallest seed to the vast galaxies, everything depends on something to fulfill its purpose.
As Colossians 1:16–17 reminds us:
“By him all things were created… all things were created by him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.”
God is the original source and sustaining authority.
- A seed must submit to the soil to grow.
- A fish must submit to water to survive.
- Planets must submit to the sun’s gravitational pull to stay in orbit.
In each case, submission doesn’t weaken; it empowers. Refusing to submit leads to malfunction, disorder, and even destruction.
We Never Outgrow Authority
As we mature, our environments and responsibilities change, but the need for authority never disappears. Authority isn’t a burden—it’s a boundary for growth, protection, and success.
Rejecting authority leads to illegitimacy.
- A criminal refuses society’s laws and becomes a danger to others.
- A rebellious child suffers consequences emotionally, mentally, and physically.
- A leader who won’t submit to higher counsel becomes reckless and untrustworthy.
To lead, you must first learn to be led. True authority is built on submission to rightful order.
Jesus: The Perfect Example of Submission and Authority
The greatest authority figure the world has ever known—Jesus Christ—is also the greatest example of submission.
- He submitted to His own laws by being born of a woman, under the same law He created (Galatians 4:4–5).
- He submitted to earthly parents and the process of growth, though He was the Son of God.
- He submitted to the will of the Father—even unto death—declaring, “Not My will, but Yours be done.”
Jesus never acted outside of the authority of the Father. And because of that, He operated in perfect power, peace, and purpose.
The Challenge Today
Ask yourself:
- To what authority am I submitted?
- Am I resisting the very structure that God designed to help me grow?
- Can others trust me to lead because they see who I follow?
You can never walk in true power until you walk in true submission.
Final Thought
Submission is not weakness; it is alignment. When you align yourself under God’s authority—and with the authorities He has placed in your life—you position yourself for divine success.
“The key to Jesus’ power was His submission. The key to your power will be the same.”
Authority isn’t about control. It’s about connection—to God, to others, and to purpose.
